For teeth that have sustained only minor damage, such as a tiny chip or cavity, or teeth that are discolored or misshapen, dental bonding may provide a relatively easy solution. The preparation for dental bonding is minimal and rarely requires any anesthetic. The process can be done in a single session at our Bloomington, Illinois office, usually lasting between 30 and 60 minutes for a single tooth. Multiple teeth will require more time and, in some cases, more than one session. This will depend on the extent of the work to be done.

Dental crowns and veneers are a form of treatment for patients with damaged, broken, discoloured or worn down teeth. A crown is more commonly known as a 'cap' and is designed to protect the tooth from further damage. Crowns can be made of a variety of different materials. Some of the most popular options are listed below.

Porcelain bonded to precious metal: this is what most crowns are made from. A precious metal base is made and then porcelain is applied in layers over it.

Porcelain crowns: these crowns are made entirely out of porcelain and are not as strong as bonded crowns, but they can look very natural and are most often used for front teeth.

All-ceramic crowns: this modern technique offers a metal-free alternative, which can give the strength of a bonded crown and the appearance of a porcelain crown. Therefore it is suitable for use in all areas of the mouth.

Looking for that Hollywood smile? Veneers might be the answer.

Usually made up of porcelain, ceramic or composite bonding material Veneers are cemented to the teeth enhancing their appearance. We can transform crooked unsightly worn down damaged teeth into a fantastic new straight white Hollywood smile.

A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured tooth or to lighten front teeth. A veneer can make a chipped or damaged tooth look intact again. Porcelain covers the whole of the front of the tooth with a thicker section replacing the broken part. Veneers can also be used to close small gaps, when orthodontics (braces) are not suitable. If one tooth is slightly out of position, a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it into line with the others.

Whitening teeth

Home whitening kits can be created by us, in order to do this a mould or impression of your teeth will be taken with dental putty. From this impression dental nurses can create a plaster model which in turn is used to create tooth whitening trays. Tooth whitening trays are then used in conjunction with tooth whitening gel until the desired effect has been reached. Tooth whitening trays can be worn for varying lengths of time, anything from two hours to overnight.

Give us a call to discuss further and see the dramatic effects tooth whitening kits can have for you.
